By 2014 there will be a new federal agency that will standardize all health insurance policies sold to individuals, families, and small businesses. The federal government is forcing the health insurance companies to cover a lot more medical services in full, while at the same time telling these health insurance companies how many premium dollars can be spent on overhead. https://higginscompanies.com/faq/19-2/
This is exactly what is going on in Massachusetts today. The health insurance companies still doing business in MA. are losing hundreds of millions of dollars per quarter. The irony is that these health insurance companies are all non-profit organizations. Politicians in the state are saying that these non- profits are sitting on billions of dollars in reserves and should not be able to raise premium rates because of this. What they forget to mention is that the law, which the politicians created, states that the health insurance companies must have these large reserves to do business in the state.
All the evidence in the world that the new health insurance law known as ObamaCare will be a complete failure can be had by looking at MA. Those that want to keep their doctor have a very good chance of losing this option because the doctor will likely work for someone else. That someone else will be a hospital, and that hospital may not be in the health insurance carriers network.
