Today the CBO director, Doug Elmendorf, testified before Congress that 800,000 jobs will be lost due to Obamacare. The Congressional Budget Office, (CBO,) is supposed to be a neutral agency, neither leaning Republican or Democrat. They calculate the affects of new laws on the economy, an educated guess if you will.
The House Budget Committee listened intently as Mr. Elmendorf spoke, but it wasn’t until he mentioned the job losses from the new health care reform law that the members sat up.
Chairman Ryan pointed out that Mr. Elmendorf’s estimation of job losses contradicts what President Obama said when pushing his health insurance reform package before it became law. On many occasions the president stated that Obamacare would create jobs and would increase participation in the workforce.
So here we are, another day, another mention of disastrous results thanks to President Obama. We had to pass the reform package so that we could see what was in it, remember? Unfortunately, the more we know the scarier it gets. The next two years will now be spent by a Republican House trying to undo the damage caused in the first two years of Mr. Obama’s presidency.
