Arizona Small Employers Receive 50% Off Health Insurance Premiums Over time

Like so many aspects of the healthcare reform bill pasted a few days ago, it is difficult to dig up specific information on the many programs involved. I am awaiting guidance from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona regarding a grant program available to Arizona small group employers with 25 or less full-time employees, with incomes averaging $50,000 or less a year. Eligible small businesses may qualify for phase one of a small business premium tax credit. Small employers will receive a credit, based on the number of employees involved, of up to 50% of premiums for up to 2 years. The employer must contribute at least 50% of the total premium cost. What concerns me is the word, “total.” Is it the total premium cost of the employee premium, or the total premium cost of the employee and dependent? All insurers that I know of require employers to pay at least half the employee premium, but none that I know of require any contribution for dependent coverage. https://higginscompanies.com/health-insurance/group-health-insurance/

I will post specifics of this program, which went into effect the moment the president signed the bill into law this morning, as soon as possible.

Feel free to call anytime.
