Financial Assistance for Arizona Health Insurance

There is a little known program from the Arizona Department of Revenue that offers between $1000-$3000 for individuals and families to help pay for health insurance. An individual must make less than $27,045 a year, a family of four $55,000. Income limits may be found at www.azdor.gov under the tax credit link. Applicants must be uninsured for at least six months. Businesses with 2-25 employees also qualify. There are no annual income limits on employers or employees, but the company must not have offered group health insurance for at least six months.

Once the applicant or business has received their certificate they may purchase a policy from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona as an example. BCBSAZ will charge half premiums until the face value of the certifate is used. Individuals and companies may qualify for up to three years. https://higginscompanies.com/faq/19-2/

It is important to note that this is a $5 million dollar program, on a first come first serve basis. Once the monies run out applicants are placed on a waiting list. As of 02/15/2010 there was no waiting list.
