President Obama would like a gentleman from Harvard with three degrees from the Ivy League university to head Medicare, and his name is Donald Berwick. Heading Medicare is the equivalent to running an $800 billion dollar health insurance company. As head of this large health insurance company it is worthy to note his views on the private sector, and health insurance companies in general. https://higginscompanies.com/health-insurance/medicare-supplement/
A couple of years ago Mr. Berwick said, “Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional.” Here comes the term, “Socialism,” again. He refers to health insurance companies as operating in the, “darkness of private enterprise.”
If you have a gentleman that is running the second largest health insurance company in the world, second only to England’s NHS, and believes that medical insurance companies are evil in a way, what do you think the end result will be for health insurance in general?
Appointed by a president that wants a single payer health insurance system, and has passed a law that will result in the private health insurance companies being put out of business, Mr. Berwick is a perfect fit. Because of consumer choice, according to Mr. Berwick, the health insurance industry is toxic and fragmented, and because of it’s complexity these choices should be made by our leaders. Essentially we are too dumb to figure it out on our own.
The next election cycle is very important. We are on a course that will result in health insurance companies closing shop, doctors being put out of private business, and a level of debt that will sink this country in the worst of ways.
