Planned Parenthood wants health insurance companies to cover the pill under preventive services, that is, for free. Under ObamaCare all preventive services must be free. Now Planned Parenthood is quietly getting their ducks in a row with a website asking citizens to submit stories of how the pill changed their lives.
How the pill would be considered preventive medicine I can’t imagine. The CBO issued a report that free preventive checkups will not lower costs of health insurance in the long run in any case. Adding the pill to the list of free medical benefits will only increase the cost of the new national health insurance plan.
Adding the pill as a free benefit of health insurance would essentially be stating that the government thinks lowering the birthrate would lower costs. The opposite is true. For the Medicare Ponzi scheme to continue we need a higher birthrate. Adding another mandate to health insurance policies will add billions of dollars to premiums, exactly what the pill will do. Taking the pill is also a personal choice, like having a nose job or breast enhancement, neither of which would benefit the health of the individual.
