Price Controls and Health Care

Not since Nixon has this country tried price controls. Of course this failed and lead to shortages. Now President Obama wants to try this with health insurance, warning insurers not to raise their prices recently. He increases their costs dramatically with ObamaCare, then tells them not to raise their prices. And many don’t believe that the president doesn’t want to put private insurers out of business? They don’t believe that the ultimate goal is to have a single payer system, i.e., everyone insured by the federal government. The more people are dependent on the government, the more votes for the Democrats, it’s that simple. The days of being able to choose from several plans and insurance companies are numbered. An example of these choices may be found here: https://higginscompanies.com/health-insurance/all-bcbs-of-az-plans/.

All the evidence needed to prove that price controls don’t work and lead to rationing can be found by looking at Massachusetts. President Obama copied his health insurance plan from MA. Insurance companies have gone out of business, and the non-profits that remain have said that they will be out of business within two years unless the law changes. Premiums are the highest in the country.

Price and cost are not the same thing, and with price controls come a very heavy cost to pay by all of us.
